Mount Ashwabay rises above the shoreline of Lake Superior in this northern Wisconsin survey, where the landscape is defined by the drainages that feed the Great Lake. The terrain transitions from the high ground of the Penokee-Gogebic Range toward the coast, carved by numerous watercourses including the Sand River, Raspberry River, and the Little Sioux River. Interior drainage is marked by the presence of Sultz Swamp, a significant wetland area situated west of Schultz Fire Ln.
