Mount St Helens stands at the center of this map, fundamentally altered following its 1980 eruption. This provisional survey documents the immediate aftermath of the geological event, showing the massive 1980 Crater and the emerging Lava Dome. To the north, The Breach opens into the Pumice Plain, where the landscape was scoured and reshaped by debris and pyroclastic flows. Evidence of the blast is recorded in the surrounding Gifford Pinchot National Forest, with significant areas of Blowdown marked where standing timber was leveled.
