The S Fork Watonwan River meanders across the northern portion of this southern Minnesota landscape, defining a rural region where four counties—Cottonwood, Watonwan, Jackson, and Martin—meet. The terrain is characterized by a high concentration of wetland features, including Irish Lake and Fish Lake in the northeast, as well as the headwaters of Cedar Cr and Elm Cr.
