Wrangell-Saint Elias National Preserve encompasses most of this subarctic landscape in the Southeast Fairbanks region, where the high peaks of the Alaska Range meet the Nutzotin Mountains. The terrain is defined by a dense network of high-elevation drainages, including the headwaters of Snag Creek and its tributary, East Fork Snag Creek. These glacial-fed waters flow through deep valleys carved between prominent summits such as Wellesley Mtn.
