Natrona and the surrounding agricultural tracts of Mason and Tazewell Counties are defined by an extensive network of drainage infrastructure. This system, including the Waldmeier Ditch, Main Ditch, and Allens Grove Ditch, transformed the prairie landscape into productive farmland. The area is dotted with small settlements like Winkel and Allen, which served as local hubs for the rural community. Genealogists will find several burial grounds preserved among the fields, such as Heyl Cem, Bratt Cem, and Allens Grove Cem. The terrain is mostly level, interrupted primarily by Buxton Hill in the southeast corner. The map traces the rectilinear grid of county roads, including Wagonseller Rd and County Highway 10, which connect these isolated farmsteads and historic family-named landmarks.
