2021 Map of Ninemile Peak

About this map

Ninemile Peak and Merriam Peak dominate the eastern reaches of this high-desert landscape along the border of Eureka and Nye Counties. The terrain transitions from the broad expanse of Antelope Valley in the west, traversed by Antelope Valley Rd, into the rising slopes of the Antelope Range. This region is defined by its critical water sources, including numerous named springs such as Foleys Spring, Coal Burner Spring, and the numbered series of Segura Spring Number Seven and Segura Spring Number Six. A portion of the Toiyabe National Forest covers the southwestern mountains, where Martin Ridge and the headwaters of Meadow Cr define the drainage patterns. The map provides a clear picture of the remote grazing and forest lands at the start of the 2020s, illustrating the vital role of these isolated springs in the high Great Basin environment.
