Noonan and the small settlement of Kermit occupy the prairie landscape of Divide County along the international border in this 2014 survey. The topography is defined by the numerous small depressions and seasonal wetlands characteristic of the northern plains, with Boundary Dam Reservoir reaching into the northern edge of the quadrangle from across the Canadian border. The town of Noonan serves as the local hub, where a grid of streets including Hagerud St and Summit Ave E meets Cr 21. This study documents the region's transport network, centered on the intersection of Nd-5 and Nd-40, which provided essential links for the area's agricultural and energy-producing economy in the early 21st century.
