South of the military reservation, the Little Patuxent River and Patuxent River converge, providing a natural border between Anne Arundel and Prince Georges counties. This area maintains much of its traditional character through family-named landmarks and rural institutions, including Jackson Cem, St Johns Chapel, and the Bowie Race Track near the southern edge. The 1970 revisions highlight the early phases of suburban infill that would eventually connect these once-distinct crossroads.
