The North Fork South Branch Potomac River carves a deep path through the eastern portion of this quadrangle, defining the valley where settlements like Onego, Teterton, and Macksville are situated. To the west, the massive bulk of Spruce Mtn and Timber Ridge dominates the terrain within the Monongahela National Forest.
