The South Platte River winds through this Morgan County landscape, anchoring a complex network of agricultural water management systems. Irrigation infrastructure is the defining characteristic of the area, represented by the Riverside Intake Canal, Weldon Valley Ditch, Putman Irrigation Ditch, and the Fort Morgan Canal. These channels support the small rural settlements of Goodrich and Orchard, the latter of which features a designated Po.

Water storage and conservation are prominent in the northern reaches, dominated by the Jackson Reservoir and Jackson Lake.
