The Snake Mountains dominate the center of this northeastern Nevada landscape, where the Oxley Peak Lookout stands as a prominent high point. This late 1960s survey documents the rugged hydrography of the region, characterized by numerous thermal features such as Threemile Spring (Sulphur) and Hot Spring (Sulphur). The drainage pattern flows from the uplands down toward the Humboldt River and Town Creek in the south, where the terrain levels out into the broad expanse of the Bishop Flats.

Transportation and utility infrastructure follow the natural contours of the valley floor. The Union Pacific and Southern Western Pacific rail lines traverse the southern portion of the quadrangle, passing near the Wells Corporate Bdy and Harriet Field. The presence of several Radio Facility sites and a network of Jeep Trails through Indian Hollow reflects the mid-century development of communication and access in this remote high-desert environment.
