Mammoth Cave National Park occupies the northern reaches of this landscape, where the southern boundary of the park meets the rolling karst topography of central Kentucky. The area is defined by its complex drainage patterns and numerous subterranean influences, evidenced by features such as Little Sinking Creek, Sinking Branch, and Sinking Creek. These water bodies often disappear into the limestone before emerging elsewhere, a hallmark of the region's unique geology.
