The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail winds through the heart of this high-altitude landscape, following the ridgelines that separate the Flathead National Forest from the Lewis & Clark National Forest. The boundary between Flathead and Lewis and Clark counties is defined by this dramatic crest, which includes notable summits like Pentagon Mtn and Angle Point. In the northern section, the terrain descends toward the Flathead Wild and Scenic River, while the eastern side is dominated by the Sawtooth Range and the peaks of the Lewis and Clark Range.
