Pine City and Kenova sit at the center of this Whitman County landscape, where the drainage patterns of Pine Cr and Thorn Cr intersect. The terrain is defined by the unique geological formation of Hole-In-The-Ground in the northwest, a significant feature near the headwaters of Rock Cr. This area is characterized by a network of rural roads such as Texas Ferry Rd and Pine City Malden Rd that trace the undulating topography of the Palouse region. Local history is anchored by the Pine City Cem, located just east of the primary settlement. The southern portion of the map shows the transition into drier coulees, marked by the winding path of Kamiache Cr. In the far north, the presence of Bonnie Lake provides a distinct hydrological contrast to the surrounding creek systems that define the local agricultural and transport corridors.
