Pine Valley dominates this high-altitude basin in Millard County, situated between the sharp elevations of the Tunnel Spring Mountains to the northwest and the Wah Wah Mountains to the east. The landscape is defined by its arid drainage patterns, culminating in the Pine Valley Hardpan at the southern edge of the sheet. This seasonal dry lake bed represents the lowest drainage point for the surrounding ranges, including Middle Mtn. Transportation is limited to a small network of desert tracks and graded routes, most notably Pine Valley Rd, which runs north-to-south through the center of the valley. Local access to the southwest is provided by W 15600 S and W 16300 S St, reflecting the remote ranching or resource management character of this corner of the Great Basin.
