Chupadera Mesa dominates this high-desert landscape in Socorro County, where federal operations and remote ranching infrastructure converge. The eastern edge of the White Sands Missile Range occupies much of the quadrangle, evidenced by the presence of WSMR S Route 3506 snaking through the terrain. Evidence of mineral exploration and agricultural persistence is seen at the Jones Magnetite site and several water-management features, including the New Well Windmill and Taylor Tank.
