Pioneer Mesa and the surrounding high desert terrain in Garfield County dominate this topographical study. The landscape is defined by elevated plateaus and deep drainage systems, most notably the winding course of Death Hollow and the drainage of White Canyon to the north. These flat-topped formations, including Wolverine Bench, Little Bown Bench, and Big Bown Bench, provide a clear look at the geological layering of the region.
