The settlement of Progresso sits on the high plains of Torrance County, centered around the Progresso Cem and the junction of Progresso Rd and Co RD c088. This high-elevation landscape is defined by the dramatic eastern edge of the Mesa de los Jumanos, which drops sharply into a series of deeply etched drainages. Among these are Bell Canyon, CC Canyon, and the notable Pueblo Blanco Canyon to the south. Much of the central and southern terrain falls within the Cibola National Forest. Given the arid environment, the map meticulously records essential water infrastructure, including Willard Tank, Powerline Tank, and Ruins Tank, reflecting the ranching and resource management needs of this New Mexico territory.
