Purgatory Peak and Mt Limbo dominate the high ridges of the Selenite Range along the eastern boundary of this high-desert landscape. The terrain transitions from these stark summits down into the Poito Valley, where intermittent drainages like Jayhawk Cr and Jenny Cr carve ephemeral paths through the arid basin. On the western edge, the Lake Range rises sharply, separated from the interior valley by Falcon Hill and the narrow passage of Threemile Canyon.
