Cocklebur Flat and the surrounding prairies of Craig County are defined by a complex network of waterways that eventually feed into the Neosho River watershed. In this rural landscape, the branching tributaries of Big Cabin Creek, including the Middle Fork Big Cabin Cr and W Fork Big Cabin Cr, carve subtle drainage patterns across the terrain. These creeks and smaller streams like Whiskey Br and Frazier Br represent the primary natural landmarks in an area dominated by section-line roads and agricultural land.
