Superior National Forest encompasses this water-rich wilderness within Lake, Minnesota, where the landscape is defined by a dense network of glacial lakes and slow-moving waterways. The Powwow Trail provides the primary overland route through the northern section, connecting remote landmarks like Gull Lake, Janis Lake, and Diana Lake. The southern half is dominated by the winding courses of the Isabella River and the Little Isabella River, which flow through extensive wetland areas and drain basins such as Rice Lake and Bog Lake.
