Diamond Mountains dominate this high-desert landscape, serving as a natural boundary between White Pine and Eureka counties. In this 2018 survey, the terrain is defined by its verticality, rising from the Huntington Valley and Huntington Cr in the east toward the towering heights of Diamond Peak. The industrial history of the range is marked by the presence of the Etchemendy mining group, including Etchemendy Number One, Etchemendy Number Two, Etchemendy Number Three, and Etchemendy Number Four, situated near the head of Fourmile Canyon.
