The Valley Mountains dominate the western horizon of this Sevier County landscape, giving way to the fertile agricultural stretches of the Sevier Valley to the east. The settlement of Redmond sits at the base of a series of distinct geologic markers, including First Red Knoll, Second Red Knoll, and Third Red Knoll. This area represents a critical junction of water management in the Utah desert, where the Piute Canal, Vermillion Canal, and the aptly named Little Ditch create a network of irrigation that supports the local ranching and farming economy.
