About this map

The Continental Divide forms a dramatic spine through this high-altitude landscape on the boundary between Sublette County and Fremont County. Within the Bridger Wilderness, a cluster of alpine lakes like Lake Solitude, Lake Polaris, and Petroleum Lake occupy basins carved by the glacier that still grips the northern slopes. The eastern portion of the survey is part of the Wind River Indian Reservation, where the Little Wind River and its North Fork collect drainage from peaks such as Wykee Peak and Roberts Mountain. A network of designated pack trails provides the only access through this roadless terrain, connecting remote passes like Kagevah Pass and Photo Pass. This 1981 record documents the hydrology of the Wind River Range at a time when the glacial systems and perennial snowfields remained prominent features of the high-country landscape.
