Lincoln National Forest land defines much of this canyon-cut landscape in the Sacramento Mountains. The geography is dominated by high ridges and deep drainage systems, including Robertson Canyon, Mule Canyon, and Cuevo Canyon. Water management is central to this environment, evidenced by a series of livestock tanks and small lakes such as Mule Canyon Tank, Hale Lake, and Gowen Lake, which provide critical resources in the arid terrain.
