Rolfe and Plover anchor this agricultural landscape in Pocahontas County, where a dense grid of range lines and section roads dictates the movement of people and commerce. The topography is defined by a slow-moving drainage system, including the winding course of Beaver Cr and Pilot Cr, which eventually meet Crooked Cr and the N Br Lizard Cr to the south. Local heritage is preserved in several rural burial grounds, such as Powhatan Cem in the north and the adjacent Saint Margarets Cem and Clinton-Garfield Cem just outside the Rolfe town limits.
