Scores of scattered Claypit and Claypits labels suggest a robust local industry punctuating the wooded terrain between Dawson and Rosati. The transportation corridor is anchored by the St Louis - San Francisco railroad and highway, which cuts diagonally through the southern half of the quadrangle.

Genealogists will find several small family or community burial grounds including Dawson Cem, Branstetter Cem, and Hughes Cem. In the southwestern corner, the outskirts of St James are visible, featuring civic landmarks such as a Nursing Home and a Sewage Disposal Pond. The northern reaches are defined by the winding course of the Bourbeuse River and its tributaries, Clear Creek and Robinson Creek, which drain the uplands of Dawson and Knob View.
