The settlement of Roy serves as a focal point in this high-desert landscape, where the Rockland Hwy and Harris Kress Rd intersect within the Rockland Valley. Much of the area is managed as the Curlew National Grassland, a terrain defined by sagebrush-covered hills and deep canyons such as Sager Canyon and Heydlauff Canyon. To the southwest, the Sublett Range rises toward Quaking Asp Mtn, marking the transition into more elevated, mountainous territory.
