About this map

White Mountain National Forest dominates the high ground of this Graften County landscape, where the Baker River and its branches dictate the layout of early 20th-century life. The mountain towns of Warren and Wentworth serve as hubs for a series of remote valleys, connected by the Boston and Maine RR which follows the river valley through Swainboro Sta and Rumney Depot. This rail connection supported local industries, including the Ore Hill Mine and a local Quarry, while providing access to the growing recreational areas around Lake Tarleton and Stinson Lake.
