About this map

Rupert serves as the focal point of this 2013 survey, which illustrates the intensive agricultural water management systems that define this portion of the Magic Valley. The landscape is crisscrossed by an intricate network of canals and drains, such as the Main Drain, D-Four Drain, and the A-3 Canal, supporting the local economy south of the Snake River. To the southwest, the community of Heyburn borders the river, while smaller settlements like Springdale, Amalga, and Schow dot the grid of rural roads. Along the southern bend of the river near Parees Island, the land transitions toward the community of Declo, where the Declo Cem is situated. The map provides a detailed view of the regional transition from concentrated town centers to the sprawling, irrigated tracts that dominate the Minidoka and Cassia County borderlands.
