Great Salt Lake Desert dominates the landscape in this Tooele County quadrangle, where the stark, nearly level terrain is defined by the absence of permanent water or settlement. Topography is revealed primarily through subtle ten-foot contour intervals that trace the basin's edge and occasional landforms rising above the 4,220-foot base elevation. This section of the desert remains largely unscarred by infrastructure, consisting primarily of public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The grid of the Public Land Survey System provides the only human organization across the expanse, marking townships and sections in a place where the natural features are as sparse as they are significant to the hydrological history of the Great Basin.
