Santos Peak and the high plateaus of northern New Mexico define this 2017 survey of Rio Arriba County. The landscape is dominated by expansive mesa systems including Santos Mesa, Encinada Mesa, and the uniquely named B S Mesa, separated by deep drainage networks like Martinez Canyon and Ice Canyon. These natural corridors have long dictated movement through the high desert, reflected here in the path of Cañon de Camino.
