The Bear River Divide dominates this high-altitude landscape along the border of Lincoln and Uinta Counties. The terrain is defined by dramatic geological formations, most notably the sharp peak of Sawtooth Mtn and the striking prominence of The Pinnacle. The hydrology of the region is equally complex, with numerous drainages like Cottonwood Cr, Alkali Cr, and Spring Cr carving through the ridgelines. To the south, the landscape transitions into the distinctive The Hogback and the dual peaks of N Sheep Mtn and S Sheep Mtn. This area serves as a significant drainage basin for the Salt Cr and Carter Cr systems. Human infrastructure is sparse, limited to high-country access routes such as Carter Creek Rd and CR-103, which navigate the steep elevation changes between the peaks and the creek beds below.
