The Missouri River and the massive impoundment of Fort Peck Lake dominate the southern landscape of this Missouri Breaks territory, where the border between Phillips Co and Garfield Co is defined by the winding river channel. North of the water, the terrain rises into a series of distinct uplands including Schuyler Butte, Iron Stake Ridge, and the Larb Hills. The drainage pattern is characterized by numerous seasonal waterways and coulees, such as Chippy Cr, Kill-Woman Cr, and Johnny Cr, which carve through the high ground to reach the lake.
