Colville National Forest dominates this section of the Selkirk Mountains in northeast Washington, where a complex network of forest roads and glacial lakes defines the landscape. The geography is anchored by Scotchman Lake and the neighboring Anderson Lake and Little Anderson Lake, which lie just east of the Pend Oreille River corridor. The terrain rises sharply toward the east, reaching summits such as Molybdonite Mtn and Hanlon Mtn.
