Kenai Fjords National Park and the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge converge in this glaciated expanse of the Kenai Peninsula. The landscape is defined by massive ice fields and active glacial movement, with the Wosnesenski Glacier carving through the northern quadrant and the Yalik Glacier occupying the northeast corner. Further south, the Petrof Glacier flows toward the coast near Petrof Point, illustrating the dynamic frozen hydrology of this subarctic region in 2017. The absence of roads or permanent settlements highlights the wilderness character of these protected lands, where land management boundaries follow the township and range lines of the Public Land Survey System amidst some of Alaska's most formidable terrain.
