Seneca sits at the southern edge of Bear Valley, serving as a central hub for the surrounding timberlands and high-country ranching. This high-desert landscape is defined by the Silvies River and an intricate network of springs and gulches, such as Hunters Cabin Spring and Moonshine Spring, which have long supported seasonal livestock and logging operations. The topography rises sharply to the north toward Starr Ridge and the Aldrich Mountains, where the Malheur National Forest dominates the terrain.
