Sevenmile Hill and Big Mtn rise above the complex network of intermittent drainages and ranch lands northwest of Uvalde. This portion of the Brush Country is defined by a dendritic system of sloughs and creeks, most notably Cooks Slough and Boon Slough, which converge toward the Leona River in the eastern reaches of the map. The landscape reflects a modern ranching economy, with named tracks such as Rancho Encino and Rocky Ridge Rd cutting through the mesquite and scrub terrain.
