Kenai Lake dominates the southern portion of this landscape within the Chugach National Forest on the Kenai Peninsula. The geography is defined by significant elevation changes and high mountain basins, anchored by Crescent Lake in the central interior and the smaller Carter Lake to the northeast. A network of backcountry routes provides the primary access through these uplands, including the Crescent Creek Trail and Carter Lake Trail.
