Sidell serves as the primary hub of this eastern Illinois landscape, situated at the junction of W Dickson St and N Chicago St. The surrounding countryside is defined by an orderly grid of section roads and several small settlements including Jamaica in the north and Maizetown to the east. The terrain is drained by the Little Vermilion River and its tributaries, such as Jordan Cr and Baum Br, which cut through the agricultural fields.
