Sidwalter Buttes dominate this high-desert reach of Wasco County, where the landscape is defined by the complex drainage network of the Warm Springs River and its numerous tributaries. At the time of this 2011 survey, the area reflects a deeply utilitarian relationship with the land, evidenced by named grazing areas like Schoolie Pasture and timber or water management sites such as Old Mill Camp. The topography transitions from the elevated Long Ridge in the north down toward the southern waters of Mill Creek and the Mill Creek Lateral.
