Baranof Island dominates the southern half of this coastal Alaskan landscape, where the steep terrain of the Duffield Peninsula meets the waters of Deadman Reach. This area is part of the protected Tongass National Forest, characterized by dense topography and a complex shoreline of points and coves. To the north, across the Gulf of Alaska, the Moore Mountains rise sharply from the coast, mirroring the high-elevation interior of the island.
