Smouse Mesa and Superior Mesa dominate this high-desert plateau in San Juan County, as recorded in this 2020 topographic survey. The landscape is defined by deep incisions from Palluche Canyon and Ice Canyon, which drain toward the larger Cañon Largo in the southeast. Sparse but vital water sources are mapped throughout the drainage networks, including Hooch Spring, Romero Spring, and Dee Spring.
