Spring Creek Ranch and its surrounding rangeland in Big Horn County are defined by a complex network of ephemeral drainage systems and man-made water improvements. The landscape is carved by numerous named coulees, including the evocative Moonshine Draw, Fritzler Coulee, and Schoolhouse Coulee, which highlight the importance of localized terrain features in this part of Montana. Water management is a central theme, evidenced by the Lower Indian Creek Reservoir and Upper Indian Creek Reservoir along the winding path of Indian Creek.
