1931 Map of Square Lake

USGS Topo · Published 1943

About this map

The Fish River Chain of Lakes dominates this northern Maine landscape, as surveyed by Fred Graff, Jr. and his team in the late 1920s. The interconnected waters of Square Lake, Cross Lake, and Mud Lake provided the primary corridors for transportation and early timber industry activity, illustrated by the presence of Carriveau Mill in Saint Agatha. Along the shores and ridges, small communities like Sinclair, Guerette, and Ouellette are mapped alongside numerous rural educational outposts, including Lincoln Sch, Adams Sch, and the Guerette Sch.
