Wind River Indian Reservation lands dominate this high-altitude survey of the Wind River Range foothills in the early 1950s. The landscape is defined by the complex drainage systems of Sage Creek and its many forks, alongside the Little Wind River and Washakie Creek to the south. This terrain transitions from the open water-carved valleys near The Meadows to the prominent peaks of Bear Peak and Little Horse Peak, which stand as landmarks for navigation in this backcountry.
