Sansarc Cr and its tributaries define the drainage patterns of this Stanley County landscape, creating a network of draws and breaks typical of the Missouri Plateau. This 2015 survey shows a rural environment primarily organized by the Public Land Survey System, with township and range lines such as t7n r26e and t7n r27e dictating the placement of secondary roads and local connectors. The drainage of N Fork Sansarc Cr in the northwest and the presence of W Fork Minneconjou Cr to the east illustrate the seasonal waterways that shape the ranching country of South Dakota. Modern infrastructure is limited to a sparse grid of routes including Sansarc Rd and 256th Ave, which provide access across the high plains. This map is of particular interest as it covers the filming location for the frontier outpost Fort Sedgewick from the film Dances with Wolves.
