The settlement of Standrod sits at the northern edge of this high-elevation landscape, straddling the border between Cassia County, Idaho, and Box Elder County, Utah. The terrain is dominated by the steep rises of the Bally Mountains and the northern slopes of the Raft River Mountains, with much of the central and southern area protected within the Sawtooth National Forest. This 2017 survey shows a region defined by complex drainage systems and isolated water sources, where names like Dipping Vat Spring and Sawmill Canyon suggest a history of ranching and timber use.
