String Creek and its many tributaries define the high-elevation drainage patterns of this remote portion of Flathead County. The landscape is dominated by significant peaks, including Bruce Mountain in the northwest and Cinabar Mountain and Chipmunk Peak toward the north-central boundary. A network of Forest Service roads, such as 549 and 2828, provide limited access through the steep terrain, following the natural corridors carved by water.
