Kupreanof Island dominates the southern half of this mid-century survey, its heavily contoured landscape rising to the peak of Turn Mountain. Located within the Tongass National Forest, the region is characterized by a complex coastline and deep glacial waterways. To the north, Frederick Sound opens into broad reaches of water, punctuated only by the isolated Turnabout I, which is marked with a Light to aid maritime navigation through these northern passages.

Evidence of coastal activity appears at Pinta Pt and the nearby Pinta Rocks, while the presence of Slate No 2 on the shoreline suggests localized resource extraction or geologic points of interest. The southern edge of the map reveals the entrance to Keku Strait, highlighting the essential role of water travel in the archipelago. This mapping effort, based on aerial photographs from the late 1940s, provides a record of the wilderness and navigation markers before later modern development.
